Nothing says “romantic” like strawberries covered in chocolate. A favorite dessert for Valentine’s Day, chocolate covered strawberries is so easy and fun to make at home. You can prepare this ahead of time or make it together with your partner after dinner. All you need are fresh strawberries that have been rinsed well and dried, white chocolate chips, and dark chocolate. The white and dark chocolates are melted separately and then the fresh strawberries are dipped in the dark melted chocolate, laid out on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper to cool and decorated with the melted white chocolate.
Perfectly ripe, plump and sweet strawberries are delicious on their own but even more decadently so dipped in chocolate. There are many ways you can play around with this recipe if you want to be creative. You can decorate the chocolate covered strawberries with other toppings and ingredients like chopped nuts, sprinkles, tiny marshmallows, caramel sauce, crushed candies, crushed cookies, sugar, and spices. Sprinkle the ingredients on the strawberries just after dipping so that the chocolate is still a bit warm and has not fully hardened. This way the toppings will stick to the chocolate when it cools. When decorating the chocolate covered strawberry with warm melted white chocolate, let the dark chocolate cool and harden first before drizzling it with white chocolate. This is also true for caramel or any warm syrup.
Of course, this will taste absolutely fabulous if you use the sweetest and freshest strawberry you can find, but this recipe is also a great way to sweeten strawberries that are out-of-season or dress up strawberries that are not the best quality or are not as sweet as you want them to be. Not only will the strawberries taste instantly better, they will also look more irresistible and beautiful.
